9/11: An Argument for controlled demolition

There are many conspiracy theories regarding the events of 9/11. One of the most publicized and argued theories is that the buildings were rigged with explosives for a controlled demolition.

While many theories argue that the destruction of the Twin Towers and WTC Building 7 were due to controlled demolition, I have yet to come across an article containing a reasonable explanation of why the buildings would be rigged for controlled demolition in the first place.

Some will argue that the buildings were rigged in such a way just for destruction on 9/11, but that doesn’t really make any sense. Here’s what does make sense:

Why the World Trade Center buildings should have been rigged for controlled demolition way before 9/11 (if they weren’t)

First a few facts about the buildings themselves and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing:

WTC buildings

… the main two towers, which each were 110 stories tall, stood over 1,350 feet (410 m) high … Wikipedia

1993 WTC Bombing

The 1993 World Trade Center bombing occurred on February 26, 1993, when a car bomb was detonated below the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The 1,500 lb (680 kg) urea nitrate–hydrogen gas enhanced device  was intended to knock the North Tower (Tower One) into the South Tower (Tower Two), bringing both towers down and killing thousands of people. It failed to do so, but did kill six people and injured 1,042. Wikipedia

Think damage control…

The first attack in 1993 was an attempt to knock one tower into the other one and topple them over. As noted above the towers were 1,350 feet high above New York.

At a quarter of a mile high each, toppling these buildings by “knocking them over” onto the rest of Manhattan would have caused death and destruction far beyond the scope of the 9/11 tragedy.

World Trade Center Twin Towers

From this photo we can get an idea of the potential destruction if the towers were toppled onto the rest of the city.

What is the best damage control measure for this type of scenario?

Rig the buildings with explosives for an emergency controlled demolition. It would be even smarter to rig the whole thing to automatically detonate if the building(s) reached a certain degree of tilt (the tipping point).

It is my opinion that the buildings at the World Trade center site should have been rigged for controlled demolition soon after the 1993 attack, way before the events of 9/11/2001 as a damage control measure against another “basement bombing” or “tip over” attempt.

I would be very surprised if the damage control people at whatever agency controls this sort of thing didn’t at least have this option on the table at some point after the 1993 bombing.

  1. When you say that teory of this demolision, when would they supposedly have pulled the trigger? Does the theory denie that the planes crashed or was it after when they fell apart?
