digging clams in barnstable

A clammer digging quahogs or cherrystones at Barnstable Harbor just south of Sandy Neck in Barnstable , MA. Ready for the raw bar, these clams are good steamed or eaten raw with cocktail sauce. The larger ones are called “chowders” because they are too large to be eaten raw and are more apt to be steamed and eaten in a chowder or soup.

Comments: digging clams in barnstable

  1. Where can I go clam digging?  Could you please send me direction?  Also, where could I go get the permit.  I’m a Massachusetts resident.
    Thanks
