This is the last thing you would see if you were swallowed by a sperm whale feet first. I am sure this is the last thing many giant squids (Architeuthis) see with their dinner plate sized eyes.

The sperm whale is one of the only toothed whales, only having teeth on it’s lower jaw. The sperm whale teeth were often scrimshawed, or decorated with very intricate designs. Often whalers were out to see for years at a time, so the scrimshaw art offered a way for sailors to pass the time. This picture was taken at the Nantucket Whaling Museum.
