Situated down a dirt road that runs parallel to the ocean, the cottage was formerly a carriage house. It is adjacent to the house of John Young Nucomb, which Thoreau described as the house of the Wellfleet Oysterman in CAPE COD.  A typical New England breezeway connects the Salt Box with the main house, with two doors between to ensure privacy.  There is beach access on Williams Pond, and you can easily canoe over to the sluice between Higgins and Gull Pond.  Canoe provided.  It’s a bird watchers paradise.

The Salt Box has a dining area, kitchenette, and living area with fireplace.  There is one double bedroom, and an open sleeping loft (containing one double bed and one single). There is one full bath, and an outside shower, and there is a brick patio with a charcoal grill, table and chairs.
