old bow roof cape

This is an old picture (1934) of the Captain Solomon Howes House in Chatham. This is a large bow roof Cape style house with two chimneys and a wooden shingled roof. The original part of the house has been expanded at the back to include an even-pitched (non-bow) roof addition as well as a detached barn/shed.

Comments: old bow roof cape
The Bow roof looks very much like an upside down ship. Very much in charactor of a sea captains home. It is quite beauitful.
