Life From the Sea
From the very beginnings of modern life on Cape Cod, the sea has furnished food, earnings, and recreation for the dwellers there. It has also battered the land, changed its beaches and contour, wrecked vessels without known number, and taken countless lives of the seafarers of the Cape.
Without the sea, there would be no Cape Cod. Cape Cod is by far the most seaward-reaching piece of land on the entire Atlantic coast of the United States. From Portland, Maine, to Eastport, Maine, however, the State of Maine extends farther eastward.
