Fishing Spots: Parker’s River Rt. 28 Yarmouth
Parker’s River is a popular fishing spot in Yarmouth. There is plenty of parking and a fishing pier on the North side of the Route 28 bridge. You can catch flounder, fluke, striped bass, small bluefish, and more here.
People fish from both the North and South sides of the bridge. You can fish the North side of the bridge from the shore or the wooden fishing pier that overhangs the river. Further to the North, upriver behind Pirate’s Cove mini-golf, at one of the bends in the river before the river enters the “pond”, there is supposedly a hole that can yield good flounder fishing at around high tide. I have never fished this upriver area, but I have been told that it is a good flounder spot when they are running in Spring and Fall. (you can see this area in detail by zooming in the map below)
On the South side of the Rt. 28 bridge, I often see people fishing from the rocks on the West bank of the river adjacent to the Lobster Boat parking lot and on the other (East) side of the river near Gardiner Tile & Carpet.
For bait, I would suggest small eels, seaworms, squid, cut bait or sand eels. You may catch a striper or a bluefish on a casting plug as well. If you get hungry or thirsty during your fishing trip here, I suggest Captain Parker’s Pub on the Northwest side of Parker’s River of the for food and drinks.
