Cape Cod Cape Cod Campgrounds and Camping Areas

Camping is a very popular alternative to staying in a vacation rental or hotel room. The Cape Cod area is home to some excellent camping sites, both private campgrounds and state parks as well as youth hostels. Some of these campgrounds offer cabins in addition to campsites. Comments:

Stayed at this campground for 3 days (was scheduled for 6 but left early). The customer service was horrendous.  The lady in the office is rude, unfriendly, and downright mean.  She talks down to you and has no problem talking about other campers with you (or others in the store) around. While in the store she demanded one of her workers to go check on another camper because they were supposed to be off their site 15 minutes earlier.  When we checked in we got the 3rd degree about this being a “family” campground and how campground security would be around the park up until 3:30 in the morning and will have no problem kicking out loud people.  I also overheard her talking to another couple regarding a camper group in the campground. Was asking them to “police” the area tonight and if these other campers were loud at all to contact her immediately so she could “take care of them”.
After 3 days of watching them zip around in their carts, looking in people’s tents and just being unfriendly we decided to leave early and try another campground closer to P-town. Won’t go back there again!

I had stayed at one of your camgrounds last summer (2007). My boyfriend had beat me up. The police came, but I didn’t want to press charges because I was afraid of him. Now I have found the courage to bring him to court. Could please locate the police report for this incidence. His name is ******* ***********

Thank you so much,

Would love to know which campground Sarah G. from Pennsylvania stayed at last year.  We had a similar experience this year, and would like to know another nice place to go.  Thanks, Donna T.

We stayed at Horton’s Campground August 6-7th 2009.  The campground manager was completely rude to us and was observed being rude to his staff.  Our campsite was horrific as it was occupied by a sand dune and left just enough room for a four man tent.  In addition, the bathrooms at this place were plain disgusting.  There was no soap in the bathrooms to wash your hands, there was slime on the bathroom floor, and the bench next to the shower was covered in black mold.  The campground manager was very disrespectful to us and I feel that it was because we had my Jamaican friend with us and he is racist.  The $34 per night rate sounds good until you have a third person with you and then it jumps to $46 which is not so reasonable considering all of the other downfalls of this campground.  I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Cape Cod is such a beautiful place to stay outdoors, and so many beautiful camp spots to choose from.  Most of them don’t have busy-body managers either, thankfully.
