Cape Cod A Cranberry Crook

A story rarely told is of an old Cape Cod woman who helped herself to cranberries belonging to others. To warn her, and others likeminded, a sign was posted on one of the bogs.

Her answer to that was to erect a sign of her own, reading, “Men make laws, but I don’t mind them. I will pick cranberries anywhere I find them.” This story leaves our curiosity unsatisfied. What happened when she persisted in helping herself to cranberries raised by others?
